Control T Electrothermic Heads

A range of electrothermic heads for use with Topway Type 2 (T2) manifolds, FMU2 Floor Mixing Units and FCU Floor Control Units. Two-wire ‘normally open’, ‘normally closed’, and four wire ‘normally closed’ options are available.

An electrothermic head is, essentially a 2 port zone valve that opens and closes the port to the underfloor loop when energised by the room thermostat. The electrothermic head is fitted to the return manifold bar and are available in 230V or 24V versions, with auxiliary switch also available to provide an electrical interlock if required.

Technical Data

Available in the following options:

  • 230V/24V NC Normally Closed – The valve body is closed and will open when energised
  • 230V/24V NO Normally Open – The valve body is open and will close when energised
  • 230V/24V NC Normally Closed with micro switch – The valve body is closed and will open when energised. As the valve opens a volt free micro switch closes contact and can be used to energise a pump or boiler (most commonly used in single zone systems)

Features:

  • Tried and tested wax/copper element
  • Available for both 230V and 24V operation
  • Two-wire normally closed and normally open versions
  • Four-wire normally closed version with auxiliary switch
  • Includes pop-up indicator to show actuator status
  • M30 x 1.5 securing ring for connection to manifold

FAQS

Do we offer any modulating Electrothermic heads?
No ours are Normally Open or Normally Closed

Why on some electrothermic heads there is a number 9 and on some 1?
It is the year of production, eg. 2009 or 2011

What is the pressure rating for our electrothermic heads?
Maximum operating pressure for our electrothermic heads is 10 bar, also 10 bar if the electrothermic head is on a manifold arrangement with lockshields, but reduces to 6 bar on a manifold arrangement with flowmeters.

Do you have a modulating 0 to 10 Vdc electrothermic head?
We do not make one, or stock it, but we can purchase them for you if you require it.

Are the Emmeti actuator heads AC or DC?
The Emmeti Electrothermic heads are suitable for both.

What is the difference between 2 wire and 4 wire actuators heads?
2 wire heads: power only (L,N or +/-), 4 wire heads: power (L,N or +/-) and also a normally open microswitch.

What are the 4 wire electrothermic head colours?
1: Brown – Live 2: Blue – Neutral 3: Black – Microswitch 4: Black - Microswitch

Can you connect more than one actuator per channel to an underfloor wiring centre?
Yes, you can connect up to 5 electrothermic heads (actuators) per channel on an EWC-1 or EWC-2 and 4 heads per channel on an EWC-4.

Will the Emmeti Control T electrothermic heads fit on another manufacturers manifold?
The securing ring is M30 x 1.5 which is a widely used manifold valve body size, an adapter disc (90039364) is available to increase the actuator travel for use on some non Emmeti manifolds.

Do the Emmeti underfloor heating actuators have an over temperature limiting function?
No the actuators will not close automatically if the flow temperature is too high.
